Viet Style VBB - Finally Finished!

Postby 65vespa150 on Sat Nov 08, 2008 10:01 pm

Well I've finally got it finished. I've said it before, I love some of the Asian kit!

It has a VBC steering lock... did the maybe put that in as a part of the 10" conversion? It also has the hardest accessory to find, a mirror that replaces the brake lever pivot bolt. Did Vespas ever come out with legshied wings?

That looks superb mate, really good.
My wife just took a look at the pics as well and I said "Mine will be in that nick one day " and she thinks it'll be worth it.
What sort of condition was it in when you go it,be nice to see some before and after type shots.
Anyway, great looking scooter, hats off to you !

When I first got it, it did look fairly nice, but it had lots of blemishes. The glovebox and cowl doors had marks over them and the petrol tank had the filler section sunk down, so the cap didn't seal. I repainted the petrol tank, wheels, hubs and backing plates, glovebox and cowl doors, spare tyre mount. I had to completely replace front and rear brakes, front wheel, and the clutch. Some of the Asian stuff I ended up replacing, like the stand feet, PX-style plastic centre floor mat. I put the new Abarth copy exhaust on, replaced the carburettor with a new 20/20. I replaced lots of small parts with stainless or chrome pieces, domed wheel nuts, brake parts, seat spring/bolt/nut, choke knob, fuel lever, and fuel filler-cap. I replaced the front fender crest. I put a whitewall on the spare wheel, and whitewall inserts on the other wheels. I've spent a lot of time and money on it, but it's been worth it. I specifically bought a 65 as that's the year I was born :D
