Rally 200 barn find and my other scooter

Well Gents, here she is.
1973 Rally 200. Pulled out of a barn after being put there in 1999.
All the panels are there, only speedo, back light & glovebox were missing.
Lots of $$ and time req'd here but it'll be worth it.
Just goes to show, they're still out there, even here in Australia.....you can also see why I'm asking lots of questions !!

I haven't seen a GP200 before, are they rare? It looks unique, that's for sure.

Your Rally looks to be in good shape, nothing a lick of paint and a total restoration wouldn't fix :P

Still, it's definitely a viable project, and the before and after picks will show an amazing contrast. I'm actually a little envious, and I have a fair idea just how much work that's going to be. I wish I could afford to start a new project.

The GP was made between 69 & 71, the last of the lambretta's made in Italy.
Good original, unmolested Italian scooters, either lambretta or Vespa are hard to find.
I wouldn't say it was rare, more like, hard to find a good one !
I've wanted to own a GP since I was 16 which was 24 years ago, so finally have it and I hope I never have to part with it.

As for the Rally 200.
I can't remember seeing to many of them in the past.
Be interesting to know production numbers of both scooters ..

It'll certainly be a labour of love to get it back into shape but I'll plod on and do what I can when I can.
Small steps, take today, I finally got the hub etc off and fully stripped so I can degrease it all in work.
I'm just going to do things that cost me nothing but time and wait till parts get offered for sale from the forum or study ebay !
You just never know what's going to come along do you, there will come a point when $$ have to be spent and then it's a question of saving and doing it bit by bit.
I wish I had the money to throw at it and it'd be done real quick ready for the summer here, no chance at all this year, maybe next summer !
Cheers

Thanks for that.

I've since found out that around only 9000 GP 200's were ever produced....

Any pics ?

There are afew here in Australia, not too many I guess but I did see a truly fine example on a Rally a couple of weeks ago.
An original 1969 GP 200 as it was from the factory, now that's rare !
Still in original paint, all the panels were straight, lovely scooter, imported by the owner (of the last 13 years ) from the UK to Australia where it's ridden every day as the owners transport.
