Juan, what is this 'life' thing of which you speak? Many have told me about it, but no one I know has one....

It will probably live again at some point, I've still got most of it. The Runner 180 motor is long gone, but still got a complete running Typhoon 125 lump kicking around.. TBH it was quick and handled OK, but (ducking incoming flak) ,like most autos it was sort of boring after a while.

f**K ,was that yours ? So you're the one responsible for making piaggio think the vespisti want a vespa-ish shaped thing with a moped engine kicked up its arse

Hi all just joined the board to answer this thread.
Love the P range so thought I'd chip in with what I know about Spanish Vespas (lived in Spain for a few years you see...).

Motovespa (Spanish built) P range production from 1979 to approx. 1996

1979-1980 P200E - Rally headset (with Spanish 60's switchgear) and forks, early P range frame without turn signals, 6v Femsa ignition (NOT the same as the rally 200) The ignition side engine casing is not the same as later P ranges and the crankshaft (short taper) is specific to this model.

1979-1983(approx.) 125 & 150 CL - Same characteristics as above

1980/81-1984/85 P200E - Similar to early Italian P range (with indicators) main difference being ignition on some models being sourced out to Motoplat (Stator plate "moulded" in one piece) but fully interchageable with Ducati unit.

1985-1996 PX200E Iris (equivalent to EFL) (Iris means rainbow, arcobaleno for other eu countries), autolube and electric start both optional extras. Spanish feature: fixed main beam switchgear (lights on all the time) and red lettering and revised design of Speedometer. Over the production run seat designs and trim (from silver to black) evolved slightly.

1985-?? 125 & 150 CL (AKA Vespa Junior) - Can be seen as a continuation of the previous model retaining the same Femsa engine but in a modified EFL frame. These budget models hence the name "junior" came without indicators or fuel gauge (Motovespa written over fuel gauge location on speedo). These bike didn't come with a legshield toolbox either, being fitted instead with an "Indian" style toolbox in the near side (LH) panel. These bike are pretty rare by the way.

T5 (dates??) First batch of T5's sold in Spain were imported from Italy, later on they were built in Madrid as the T5 sport, with a revised piston arrangement, analog rev. counter, specific trim (only 1 LH mirror, black trim, stickers...)

TX200 (dates??) - PX200 engine in a Spanish T5 frame (Similar to German or Belgian GS200), Spanish specificity: Slightly lightened flywheel (Motoplat ignition) on some models. Same as Iris model autolube and electric start optional.

If my memory serves me right, PX200E iris, T5 Sport, TX200 were all produced locally until about 1996 after which bikes (PX200E) were directly imported from Italy.

Special variants were built for police forces and postal service.

all thise is from memory so might have missed a detail or two, but I think most of it is there, good luck with your project.

regards,

Mick
p.s. I'll try and source a few pics when I have some time.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed so far, I'm trying to work up a comprehensive list of variants and their years and their dates at the moment, then I need to try and source photos of them all.... This is going to be an ongiong project for some time though!

Or as Juan memorably refered to it elsewhere "My PX analfest". I'm not going to disagree, but most other models of scooter have had their minutest variations documented, now the PX is all but no more, now is the time to do this one too.
