VIN decoding

Postby composimmonite on Wed Oct 28, 2009 12:40 pm

I've tried, without success, to identiy the frame I've just bought.
The on line VIN decoders don't list the start of my number so wonder it those with more knowledge about these thing can help ?

The number is DGM ***** OM

Thanks.

Just had a further look and there is VSX 1T underneath - does that means anything ?

Thanks.

I now THINK I've sort it out.
From what I can see the frame is from a 1983 P200E/PX200E.
There is no autolube level sight hole and steering lock is straight into the downtube so that means ignition switch would be seperate - does that help identify if P200E or PX200E ?

Thanks.

Whats the number afther your VSX1T prefix, that will be the frame number.

Have you checked that prefix on scooterhelp.com? just the prefix will confirm the model, frame number will narrow it down to the year..

I'm no expert on P range (sure someone with more info will be able to confirm), but if it's a non autolube frame it would be an early model more like 78-80..

There is definaltey nothing after / by the side of VSX 1T.
There COULD be something under but no chance of reading due to rust pitting.
I suspect I'm not going to have any success with this :(

Thanks.

Thanks.

I can see VSX 1T relates to P200E so what identifies it as 1979 ?
Is ***** the frame number then ?

Now we've got that sorted, sholdn't this thread be deleted in the interests of avoiding ringing?

Good idea - I'd removed the number from my posting.
However seeing I don't even know the reg myself it's not going to be of any use to anyone for ringing in this case. :)
