Stand rubbing on frame

Postby braddo on Fri Oct 09, 2009 2:42 pm

Hi,

I have a '66 Sprint and I have noticed that the centre stand sits directly against the main scooter frame, so years of putting the stand up and down has worn a small groove into the frame. Does anyone have any tips to avoid this?

I am rustproofing/painting the underside of the frame, so if I just put the stand back on as it is, it will soon wear through the paint and be back to (rusty!) bare metal before long. Does a newer stand solve the problem for example, or do people have any ideas for installing something between the stand and frame?

Thanks,
Brad

on the original fittings there would have been a small flat plate between the frame and the bracket, these normally rust away or are never replaced on a rebuild you could make your own out of a piece of flat bar 25mm x (length of bracket ) x 3mm thick.
