Electrical fault on Vespa Primavera (VMA2T)

Postby Chris George on Thu Jul 30, 2009 7:00 pm

Evening

Basically long story short, got a Vespa Primavera (VMA2T) 1967 with electrical fault. :?:

When the headlight is off all works fine, however When the headlight is on and the footbrake pressed it shorts somewhere and blows the brake light bulb.

Im terrible with electrics thus any help is apprechiated.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what it could be?

Link to the wiring diagram;

Its the top of the two bulbs on the rear light cluster, Blue wire.

Silly question but have you checked the Voltage on the bulb?

The brake light works indipendently of its own coil on the stator , this is a common problem and is normally a crap conection on the brake light switch. I'm sure its the blue wire in the junction box you can disconect this wire first and try and see if it makes a difference. (it might be green) long time since i did a standard small frame wiring problem.
