is the molossi 166 Kit reliable

Postby Gav b on Mon Dec 01, 2008 7:58 pm

Hi,

i bought my First vespa about 2 months ago which i use for work. about a week ago I had a heat seizure as my oil pump had broken and the engine was running on neat fuel. I am going to get a new top end and have been advised to get a original 150cc top end as it is more reliable than the mollosi. Is there much difference in reliability and performance between the two? Could i fit a Vespa 200cc top end into the 125 engine?

166 kit is reliable and performance is greatly enhanced if done in conjunction with a pipe and some carb tuning/larger carb.no you cannot fit a 200 top end to your cases.

when you say carb tuning do you mean re-jeting the carb?

yes,and some work on the cases helps.i think you might be better off going standard though.the fact that you've screwed your front disc by letting the pads get too low suggests a lack of mechanical knowledge which doesn't bode well for tuning work.
