I bought a PK125XL Elestart (imported from Switzerland) but havent been able to get a spark yet. I tried a new plug and a new CDI, and I've had the stator plate checked and rewired by beedspeed. But......still no spark. Is there anything else obvious that it could be?? Any suggestions? Help would be very much appreciated.
another plug known to be good....new can fail. Plug cap, lead, check connections to CDi, stator wires, stator pickup, try another CDi off a running scoot...but first, remove the outermost green wire from the Cdi, this cuts the ignition circuit out of the equation, and if it suddenly sparks you have a short somewhere or a defective ignition switch.
It could also be the other green, not all scooterist wire the outermost green to the ignition..... easist way is to say the green that comes from the loom not the stator.....
I am grounding the plug to the cylinder head (do you still call it that on a scooter?) and I've tried a couple of new plugs with no luck.
I don't have a green wire coming from the loom to the CDI, just one green wire coming from the stator (and the red and white ones).
Does anyone know how to test the voltages coming from the stator? I am getting a couple of volts from the green (when I ground it on the engine) but nothing from the red or white, is that right? I'm barely getting a voltage at all from thet HT / plug cap. ( I have tried both with the wiring loom plugged into the stator and with it unplugged)
If anyone could give me a couple of tests to do or some more advice that would be awesome.
Normally you test the stator for resistance not voltage.
Between green and white should be 500ohms +/- 20ish
Between red and white 110 +/- 5ish.
You should also get a spark from the green from the stator when held to earth (any metal bit on the engine)
you shold have a junction box on top of the engine where the wires exit the engine with a blue and a black this is your lighting wires (blue and another earth black), where is you kill wire from the loom???? (green)
Sounds like you have a dodgie stator or burnt out wiring.
Never test the HT for voltage unless you have a meter that can measure in the 1000's of volts.....
