Fixing Px Disc Brake Calipers

Postby Gav b on Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:44 pm

Hi, have recently bought a vespa px125 disc, But unfortunately the front brake is rubbing and has chewed up the disc. What is involved in fixing? If I change the seals and give it a clean does that generally solve the problem? Any input would be good. Gav

I should add it has chewed up the disc as the pads had completely gone

Has it worn through the pads into the caliper pistons.....???

Not a lot of work to fit a new disc and pads.... this is quite a common problem as long as the pistons will push back into the caliper. Make sure you give them a good clean before you push them back in.

Which seals are you on about??? the caliper seals are very hard to change without the correct tools. Is it the star hub or the solid hub type brake.

hi Im not sure if it has warn through the pads or not as I havn't had a chance to take it off. If it has are these readily availible as spares? What tools are needed to change the seals on the calipers? It is a 5 spoke disk brake type.

Thanks Gav
