Engine size

Postby maverick9 on Tue Dec 02, 2008 3:01 pm

I have just got a vespa but it has no plates and i dont know what engine size it is i can sort of make out the frame code which is vsx 1t. I fear this may be a 200cc i am 18 with a full driving license and was wondering if i can ride this bike i think the answer is no but i just need someone to reassure me. :? Should i check the engine number? Please could someone tell me where it is?

Thanks Tom

vsx1t is a p200e frame prefix, engine number is on right hand side about 150mm back from the engine bolt, normally partially obscured by the exhaust.
do you have group a on your licence?,if not then i don't think you can legally ride it.i could be wrong as the modern licensing laws are hard to understand,i passed my bike test back when god was a boy and i can't get my head round modern bike licenses!

If its a 200 you need a full bike licence I'm afraid, you can not ride it without, max on L Plates is a 125..

Sorry but I just have to ask mate... how can you have bought a scooter without knowing what model and cc it is, did the previous owner not know? buying a scoot with no plates and no docs sounds like a risky strategy IMO :?
