DVLA they are 1 big headache

Postby vespadamo on Wed Nov 26, 2008 8:51 pm

Hi all heres my story of the DVLA just incase anyone else is in the same situation and have no idea of whats going on.

I have a 92L2 no log book.
Got hold of a dating cert.
Got MOT yippee i was so happy it got though with lights as bright as the parking light on my rally was abit iffy about it.
Not long now till on road so off to the local DVLA filled in all forms handed over the paperwork with £55 fee.
Had to take scoot up for the inspection (nearly there now :D )
Snotty nose cow inspects it and doesnt have a clue what it is even with the paperwork in front of her after trying to tell her what it is and years they were built 1956-59 it only fell on deaf ears :( as she reckons it was newer than i said it was  and get told i will be hearing in the post to what to do next but not saying anything to me so what the f##k happens now i thought oh well wont have to wait too long.
6 weeks later thats right 6 weeks later as according to there website i cant contact them until this time so as to allow them to process the paperwork etc.So last night on the phone to them and after all the option 1 option 2 crap i get through 10mins on the phone waiting only to be told "i cant do nothing as the office is shut ring back in the morning"
So today i get on the phone and get straight through :D "we will contact Norwich and find out whats going on for you and get back" (looking good i thought)
5 mins later norwich on the phone "cant find anything to do with the scooter your asking about" so as luck would have it i still had the reciept from which i paid the £55 fee and quoted that to her "leave it with me ill ring back"
30mins later i get another call "good news i have found your paperwork :D and the problem is the inspector didnt know what it was hence why you havent got any log book yet but you should of been told that the next step is for the POLICE  to come round and look at it which should of been done by now"
So now i have to wait for the cops to contact me and come round and have a look and if they say its ok then they will tell the DVLA and i will get a log book.fingers crossed.
So if i havent heard from them by the weekend i will be ringing 999 and maybe i can get one round that way so just to let you all know if you see a newspaper write up headed "mad scooter bloke calls 999 another waste of taxpayers money" that will be me.

one day i will ride again laters damo

What a pain in the fuckin arse .....!!! red tape is such a load of crap ..... and the down side is that it was a woman looking at it and the fact that it was a two Wheeled vehicle … surprised she didn’t ask where the steering wheel was and the other two wheels …. I bet she called it a motorbike.... (and we all know, that what we ride are scooters.... arnt they ???? £1.00 fine if we say motorbike.... )

hope you dont get a fine for wasting police time !!!!!

PS to all females on this forum no offence was meant to you with ref to the silly cow who looked at the scooter from the DVLA she cant help being thick…… (digging a hole .....)

Guess what the police came round today NOT still waiting maybe tomorrow

Thanks for pointing it out mate about the silly cow bit and sorry if it offened anyone wasnt ment to as not all ladys are silly cows some are quite nice cows:lol: (digging bigger hole than you ren nah nah!)

As for the mention of motorbike £1.00 fine? then i owe a hell of a lot as i own one a thundercat 600 yzf aswell as my 2 scooters it keeps the wife happy as she preferes them to the vespas (take a look at the first part above :D).

As for the date cert its just like the ones from school and on it it has the make model and year of scooter and then signed at the bottom by Bill.Talking about Bill he is a top bloke very helpfull indeed after a few emails back and forth i sent my cheque off to him on a friday for the date cert so he got it on saturday and he done it the same day didnt even wait for the cheque to clear and on the monday i had recieved it now thats what i call service :D if only the DVLA were as good or even half as good as him then i would be riding around on the 92L2 with my head down racing mate on his vespa 90 down the dual carriageway this is another story for another time.

:D
none taken and don't think that I was!

Bill is a bloody good bloke, he does deal with some horror stories tho and I've seen some of the shitty emails from disgruntled punters, that's why I put a bit on the main site about "just cos a Vespa is badged as a whatever, don't make it a whatever" :D

Look on the positive side. If Vespadamo should have been a scooter thief (I'm not suggesting he is BTW!), and had a hot scooter in his possession, had filed the frame number off and restamped it... would you have been happy that DVLA had just rubber stamped it?

Just playing devils advocate :D
